Ring/ Vibrate Switch function

My daughter's iphone had a busted digitizer and a cracked back so I decided to refurbish it with new glass/digitizer and rear case.

I used the excellent resources on this site and the disassembly was smooth.

Just a couple snags. Trying to re-install the Ring/Vibrate switch was a difficult in that it didn't want to stay in position while I was reinstalling the ribbon cable with the Switch. It would work once or twice and then would pop out of the switch. Finally it stayed in, but the switch itself no longer protrudes from the case, but is totally flush making it hard to use without a spudger. Is there a trick for getting the button in place and working properly?

Similarly the power switch protrudes about half what it did.

Any good tips?

I did this replacement also and on the power button at least I found out that the metal loop attached to the power button has to be down for it to work correctly. I put it up and it only stuck out about half as far.
