Why isn't my SNES classic controller port being recognized

I recently booted up my SNES and the 1st controller port is not being recognized and I can not navigate menus.

Notorious B.I.G Boss you've checked the other controller as well as the port? Checked for corrosion etc?

Controller port 2 is functional and the malfunctioning port does not have any corrosion.
