the 3gs has only 1 speaker... it's on the left as you look at the dock/usb connector. It seems like there are 2 because the mesh for the microphone looks like the speaker. During playback sound seems to come from the dock... very clever really. if you are having problems with hearing callers this is a different problem altogether.
