Upgrade to Windows 10.

Or if you had Windows 7, download the ISO to reinstall it.

You do need the sticker on the bottom of the computer with the product key to activate it.

that upgrade was supposed to expire on December 31st though... does it still work?

Dont have Windows 7 to test it. The link still works...so maybe? The worst that can happen is a Install that won't activate.

I had Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 installed now i only have Windows 8.1 pro

Correct. Windows 8.1 is worst operating system ever, next to Windows Vista and Windows ME. Upgrade to Windows 10 if it is still free to upgrade.
