Successfully Hard Reset my phone, but after reset it won't reboot

Hi there, if anyone can help I'll be really appreciative. I used data recovery software (Dr. Fone - do not use) and it soft bricked my Galaxy S7. It was stuck on the flashing Samsung screen. I did a factory reset via Recovery Mode (Vol UP, Home, and Power buttons) and it worked. Everything seemed fine.

However, after shutting down my phone and restarting it, it went back to the soft bricked version. I'm stumped.

Sure I could factory reset it again but a phone that cannot be shut down or restarted is almost useless since I'll lose everything every time it runs out of batteries or updates. Any help appreciated!

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Yikes.

Well, since you appear to be able to get into download mode, follow this thread to download original stock rom (If you listed 930v, this is the Verizon version. If not don't use this).

Thank you for the answer, unfortunately I had tried several stock roms to no avail before I resorted to a factory reset (I was trying to preserve the data on the phone at first). My version is actually SM-G930FD, but I didn't see that as an option when I created this post.

I can get into download mode and have tried several versions of Odin as well, but it always got stuck at some point as I tried to flash the firmware.

So FD -- you have a dual SIM international GS7.

Don't flash all of it. See if it will allow you to simply flash the operating system part of it (everything except the modem/baseband. I suspect where its getting stuck is that part of the flash.

Thank you - which part is the operating system in Odin (BL, AP, CP)? I tried just AP as it seemed to be the biggest file last week but that hung, too.

Where exactly is it getting hung on during the ODIN flash? Is it hidden.img? or something else?

AP is just the firmware / system pretty much.

BL - Bootloader

CP - Modem (Basically for baseband / sim reader / cellular reception)

CSC - Option of choosing auto factory reset after flash (CSC does this, HOME_CSC does not).

If it's getting hung, try another cable and USB port on the computer, I've had this happen before and that fixed it.
