Damaged iPhone Battery Disposal

I just replaced the battery in my 6 plus. In removing the old battery one of the adhesive strips didn't come out completely. I used a hair dryer to heat the case and pried it loose with a credit card, but the battery corner bent slightly while removing it. I currently have it in a fireproof bag I use for my drone batteries. What is the safest way to dispose of this battery. Should I just bring it to my local best buy?

There's an interesting discussion over on StackExchange. I would contact your municipality to see how they say it should be handled. Lumping it in a barrel full of other Li-ion batteries sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.

Or take it to Home Depot. They take batteries also.
