How to fix Radio static

I have installed a after market radio and now i get static on the radio. I don’t have any amps or subs. All connections are good. If I put my hand on antenna on the outside of the truck it get worse. Radio is grounded. I’ve move the wires around. Nothing works. The factory radio worked fine.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi @matt99 ,

Have you checked that you have a good ground to the radio? Try removing your ground connection and running a temporary lead from a different known good ground to the radio chassis and see if it makes a difference.

Do you only get static when on radio or on all audio options?

If only when on radio try disconnecting the antenna lead and listen if the static is still there. If so it is somewhere along the antenna lead. Have you rerouted it perhaps?

Tryed running a new ground. It’s only the radio that does it. It work fine with the factory radio and I haven’t rerouted the antenna wire. I try running a ground to the antenna wire to. No luck. And when opening the passenger door it gets worse That’s the side the antenna on.
