Keypad erratic after upgrade to ios 11.1

I just replaced the screen on my iPhone 6S Plus and everything worked fine. Then Apple started hitting me with those annoying upgrade messages that you can't say no to... just postpone. So I allowed the upgrade to ios 11.1 (something). After the upgrade my keypad became erratic but only on text messaging (Murphy right?). Apple claims the problem is being caused by a third party screen but my phone worked fine before the upgrade to 11.1 and the screen is the same. I've tried the hard reboot a few times and it appears to work properly immediately after the reboot but the problem returns within an hour or so. Any ideas?

The only thing you could do is inform Apple that they should fix this bug, also re-check your apps list for anything suspicious, as some third-party apps (RainbowKey is an example of this) modifies your apple keyboard but might cause problems for it aswell!

Also please go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards and check if those settings are okay and/or use a different keyboard language and see if the problem still exists after that.
