LG Smart TV Volume Control UH6030

Just changed from watching PS Vue on my PS3 to a Roku. All I want to be able to do is at least control the volume and turn the TV on and off since the Roku does almost everything else- save Youtube.

Tried:

-The official LG App for my phone plus Roku app. LG app doesn't recognize my TV, even though the website says it works with all LG smart TV's post 2011, but isn't listed in the app.

-3rd party remote apps, but they at best only recognize my TV intermittently, most don't recognize it all.

-The LG remote, but the Roku does not respond to the LG remote through the HDMI CEC, even though the LG TV active inputs menu says the Roku is supported.

-The Roku remote, but it does not appear to control my TV volume, or have the ability to shut anything off.
