Second generation of iPhone. Model A1241 / 8 or 16 GB capacity / black or white plastic back. Repair is more straightforward than the first iPhone. requires screwdrivers, prying, and suction tools.

How to remove earpiece

I've hunted around for this, but I haven't been able to find it.

I've repaired quite a few iphones so am not a novice. However I've yet to be able to work out how to unclip the actual earpiece from the mid frame.

I can remove the sensor flex assembly, but not the actual earpiece from underneath.

Thanks in advance

you have to remove it from the backside. remove the ribbon then you can remove the speaker. if not careful, you will damage it. a non issue if you are replacing it. i use a microscope to do it and keep it intact. use a small pick or pointy tool.
