Hi all
I have an unlocked IPHONE 4 which is running version 4.0.1 and baseband 1.59.00.
my question is this, When i make phone calls the phone allows me to make the call however i cannot hear anyone and they cannot hear me. however when i make a call with skype the microphone and earpiece both work. i am totally stumped with this. any help would be great. thank you.

I have had the problem for a good 6 months. Skype works, but not phone calls. I have replaced the earpeice, which interestingly fixed the issue for a few days and then crackling started to become an issue.
So i had a look and decided to try replacing the antenna & ofcourse that didnt work. Also I replaced the bottom mic, I had no idea about the noise suppression mic at the top at the time. However I also have no idea what to do, you can replace the second mic, but its more money than I'm willing to spend for something that probably wont work.
It could be some kind interfearence between connections, maybe, or the 2nd mic may not be working or at least its malfunctioning. Sorry I cant really help, I wish I could, I've spent a lot of time searching for a solution, but to no avail.

where is the second mic you are talking about and how do you replace it? I need to replace the mic on an iphone 4 that is not able to hear me talk on the phone...

this is a big issue as i just swapped the boards with a working iphone 4 and the mic and speaker still didn't work...

Hey guys have you got skype on your phones if so try making calls with that. I can make calls with skype which means my mike and speaker work so its got to be a software program not a hardware program. let me know

Yeh we know skype works, but that's useless unless you have unlimited data. Also if it were a software problem, it has been a problem for all versions released for iph4. I don't think Skype use the noise canceling mic? If someone were able to make a program that replaced or changed the stock phone app, that cut the noise canceling mic out of the equation, who knows... My iPod could be a phone again?
