Query regarding soft bearing balancing machine (Turbo Shaft)

Hello Sir/Mam,

I'm working on my FYP that is dynamic balancing machine used to balance turbo shafts. The machine is used to detect the unbalance of turbo shaft by checking the vibration of shaft from both sides. T81 pick up sensors are used to convert vibrations into electrical signals. But I've no clue how these 2 sensor values are processed to detect the vibration unbalance. Whether they're are fed to comparator or anything else? I'm stuck and looking for help..

Thank you

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Waqar us Salam are you saying that you are trying to design/build a dynamic balancer? Your machine must measure vibration level and phase angle all related to centrifugal forces.

Remember that R = Radius in CM

W = Unbalance mass in GM (grams)

Unbalance ā€˜Uā€™ = W X R GM CM

What values are you getting from the sensors? What program is this "FYP" for? What is your FYP all about? Where are these T81 sensors (transducers)from? Do you have a datasheet for those or a manufacturer etc?

No unfortunately we didn't get the data sheet of machine nor do we've information about scheneck T81 sensors that detect unbalance. Vibration sensors give values in mVs. Value of one sensor approaches about 800-900 mV and other one gives max of 500-600 mV. We just don't know how to use these sensor values and rotor speed to detect unbalance.

Warqar - Sorry guy we help people fix their gear. We're not a research clearinghouse for first year programs (FYP).

I'll give you a hint on what you need to read up on: Field effect transistors and magnetism. This is how the shaft is sensed and some logic compares the difference between the sensors of the array.

Thank you sir for your concern..

This is my final year project (FYP) not first year program sir.

So we need to compare the difference between values of the sensors and in the end it will tell us whether the shaft is balanced or not? A comparator required?

You would need a few comparator circuits! Take the number of sensors divide by two thats how many you would need for step1, Then you would need to compare across each pairing step2 and then again until you only had two values which would be the mean value. But theres more here ... You should be able to fill in the rest.
