How to get my laptop out of the prepairing automatic repair loop

My laptop is stuck on the prepairing automatic repair loop. It originally came on and went to the Toshiba logo (my computer brand) with a loading symbol underneath then seys preparing automatic repair and geos to a black screen. Every so often I turn it on and get rtc battery low, press enter to reset time/date. Then goes to Toshiba setup utility. When you leave that geos preparing automatic repair loop again. Now for some reason it asks for the password first. I have tried pluging power supply out and restarting, restarting while holding f11. Can anyone tell us something else to try? Thank you.

What is the precise make and model and which version of Windows are you running? Look the model up in the repair guides and it may be relatively straightforward to replace the RTC battery. That won't be expensive and will at least eliminate one problem, possibly unmasking whatever else may be wrong.

If you can get your data off (for example by removing the hard drive and plugging it into another computer with a SATA-USB adapter) then a full reinstall should hopefully sort you out. Or if it's an old laptop still on XP or Vista, why not try Linux? See https://wiki.restarters.net/Linux_migrat...
