Surface pro 3 won't turn on anymore.

As of last night, my surface shut off right after I turned it on. I was unable to turn it back on, even after trying all the fixes suggested on the microsoft support site. I took it to a local computer place and they said that I would have to take it to a microsoft store to fix it because it was likely a hardware issue.

Now I'm pretty sure I bought this thing refurbished, so it doesn't have a warranty. Not to mention the drive to the nearest store is really far so I'd have to plan a day to go, and probably pay a ton between gas and parking. I feel like actually going to get this fixed isn't worth it. I'm gonna try calling a couple of other places to see if they can retrieve my files, but otherwise I wanna try fixing this myself if it's actually feasible.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@osubb let us know what the fixes were on the Microsoft website. What have you checked? did you check to make sure that your charger works and that you have a good cable? Did you check to make sure that the jacks are okay and not bend or contain debris?

No luck, unfortunately. I took it to have it looked at, but they told me I would need to replace the motherboard (which would be a few hundred bucks). And since I had gotten it refurbished, I was not able to access my files since Surface comps come with encryption. I just had them remove the chip with all my files and got rid of the thing.
