I had this problem too. I took the machine apart and cleaned all the hoses connected to the sprayer. Still did not work. I then checked the small pump motor. It’s a bit fiddly to remove but can be done with small screwdriver set. Make sure the machine is not plugged in. Disconnect the wires and remove. On inspection I discovered the motor was not working, there was a little rust. There is a spindle on the end this was not rotating. I got a pair of players, there is a flat spot on the end of the spindle Slowly wiggle and rotate it soon released. I then put a little bit of 3 in 1 oil on and put I all back together. It now works fine.

Thank you for this. I took my Bissell apart and discovered the same thing. The pump housing seized. The shaft on the pump housing rotates inside of a bronze bushing. Over time crust builds up and causes the pump to sieze. Fortunately, I tested the electric motor driving the pump and it was fine. I was able to separate the pump shaft from the bronze bushing and wire wheel everything clean and shiney. I greased everything up, put all the parts back together and the Bissell machine works as it should.

The plastic seal between the electric motor and pump doesn't keep the water completely out. That's why I'm it seizes up.

I took the outer plastic off and Saw that the clear tubing from the base of the machine was kinked. There is a spiral metal spring that’s supposed to prevent this but it was pushed back. I repositioned it and now I have flow. The machine was brand new and I had never used it before so I was shocked that it didn’t work. Now I’m glad it works

The pump on on ours doesn't seem to be working as liquid only leaks out under gravity with or without the electric motor on. How did you get the pump apart - there are two plastic discs that seem impossible to pry apart.

Also do you know if there are spare parts for the Bissell spot cleaner ie a replacement pump

You may have an issue with the spray motor, or the clear thin tubing may be clogged.

My problem was the pump motor seized, with care it can be stripped and using a dremmel spin the shaft until free. Then check the connections and reassemble, around an hour inc coffee stop.
