Replacing the charging port

The charging port on my Lenovo Y50 recently burnt out (it has visible scorch marks) I ordered a new one, but I am having troubles figuring out how to get the old one out and the new one in. The cable appears to go under the motherboard where I can't access it, so do I have to remove the board to replace the port? I tried giving the cable a light tug but it is firmly in place on the other side of the motherboard.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Josh Neumann sure sounds like you have to replace the motherboard. Download the maintenance manual from here https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mob... You could also consider this video

Little late for you now i know, but for future curiousity- I" I just snipped one end off and slowly/carefuly pulled it out !and ran the new one on top the MB in a little slot and tact it down on a corner with the battery"(never had any issues)

Hi Greg, I've got the same problem, definitely no chance of a short circuit?
