Shutter release button not making a connection

When pressing down the shutter release button nothing is happening. I have opened the camera up and tried pressing the button from directly on the shutter circuit but it still isn't working. I can't see any foreign objects that may be obstructing. Any advice on what could be wrong or how to fix.
