US Phone on UK Network OS Reinstalling

Hi,

I've got an US version of the s6 edge model: SM-G925T

Its currently displaying this message

'Network Lock: This device can be remotely unlocked if eligible. Please use the "Device Unlock"application to unlock the device. Make sure the device has internet connectivity to use the "device unlock" application.

I am in the UK, Whats the best firmware to flash the US T-Mobile version or can I install a generic one for the UK? SamMobile only comes up with the t-mobile one.

Also I take it, it just need a unlocking code? Although when inserting a sim it doesnt ask me for a code

You cannot network a phone by flashing firmware.

You need to unlock the phone via T-Mobile in 3 ways:

  • Download the T-Mobile unlock app from the app store. If you are eligible, you can unlock the phone
  • Call T-Mobile if you are not eligible, and explain you are in the UK and need service. They may be nice enough to unlock your phone.
  • If all else fails, unlock your phone by purchasing an unlock from Ebay. Since it is T-Mobile, it may not be cheap.

Unfortunately the T Mobile unlock app cannot get a server connection.

If I have to buy an unlock code would I need to buy it from a US retailer as it's a US phone?

Before you do so. Try downloading a free VPN software, and establish VPN to a US server. Then try the unlock app again. If you do have to buy an unlock code, purchasing from a US ebayer is cheaper than a UK ebayer.

Thanks. Unfortunately a USA VPN didn't work.

The only problem I have with purchasing an unlock code is I cannot get the pop up to open on the phone to enter the unlock code. This maybe useless in purchasing a code.

If you have an access to a PC, there are unlockers that remote into your phone while its connected to a computer to unlock.
