Because the printer thinks the top is open,my suggestion would be to look inside the printer for any physical obstructions that might be blocking the top from fully closing, or allowing the top to be sensed. I would immagine that the printer has one or more little buttons on the inside that are pressed by the top of the printer when it closes, indicating to the printer that it is shut. Outside of that, you may have some sort of software issue. I could suggst the classic "Turn it off, and back on again" and, if that doesn'twork, unplugging it then plugging it back in again.
