Picture comes on for second then screen goes black
Picture is clear and sound on for a split second as I turn tv on and again as i turn it off but other than that screen is black and no sound.

@sn0wb0arder could be a bad power board or a bad main board. . Let us know what exact model this is.
Remove the power cord from the outlet and leave it disconnected for a while. Then try again. You also want to try other inputs, like DVI, HDMI, Coax etc. to see if the result is always the same. If none of that works, remove the back of your set and take a look at the board for any obvious damage like burned out components, or domed, leaky caps.
