dark screen with flasshing dash in top left corner

I opened up my laptop to fix the charging port, I took it all the way down to mother did my fix and now 50/50 the screen is dark with flashing dash at top left corner and wont boot, but only half the times half the time it works I did notice when it doesn't work the hard drive is not running. iv done 100 of charging port fixes and this is the first time iv had any problems, can some one please help me, thank you

Douglas Reading dark with flashing dash at top left corner is caused by the computer no reading the OS on your HDD. Try to access the BIOS and see if your computer finds it. Possibly a bad HDD. Let us know what you find
