Missing band release button

the release button for the upper band part is missing suddenly. Apple does not cover this. Is there a possibility to get a spare part and an instruction how to?

Update (08/14/2017)

Thanks for your comment.

For me it seems that the button is made at least out of 2 parts. An upper part towards the hand and a part towards the band slot. Due to the fact that I didn't changed the band for 2 months cause a longer vacation abroad,

There still a tiny part still inside. I noticed this yesterday, when I changed the band with the help of a small screw driver to press the remaining part and it fell out of the slot.

Some minutes ago I phoned with Apple support, again to complain that this button is out of support band although my watch is not even one year old.

Apple insists that its also not able to sent me a replacement or a contact where to obtain a replacement. Such a poor answer from Apple: for 280€ Apple will replace the watch... really poor behavior... without any damage from my side no support from Apple for a part which is value some cents.

Regards from Germany

Sorry to hear the phone support people gave you a hard time. Just tell them a good story to get the appointment.

Then once you get to the genius show them the real issue. I would also take some good pics of the part you still have and the watch back. Send them with a note to tcook@apple.com. Make is short and sweet, don't come off too strong as that won't work either.

Don't expect an answer, but you might get one ;-}

The release button is fitted in from within the watchband slot. So it just can't fall out with the band in place.

What likely happened is you took the band off and pressed again on the button which then allow it to pop out.

In any case the part (so far) is not available as a spare.

You'll need to go to a real Apple Store (in case you went to some other service center or store) and speak with them as Apple is the only source for the part. If they give you the run around ask them where you can buy it and have them show you the sites web page as I know of no one servicing the watch other than Apple.
