Unresponsive touch screen if idle for long time

Hi all,

This is not the typcial 'gray flickering bar' desease that has been common for the iPhone 6 plus, but another problem that leaves me scratching head in despair.

The phone, when left idle and the LCD turned off for a while, gets unresponsive when interacted with. Not until the screen has been active for a while, the phone starts receiving input.

I tried to change the LCD but apparently the problem has not gone away. So I'm fearing that it is something on the logic board, and not the LCD itself?

I feels a bit like the unresonsiveness is because the internals are not heated to 'operational temperatures' or something similar?

Any ideas?

The grey flickering bars is the most recognized symptom of Touch Disease but any failure of Touch on an iPhone 6 Plus usually has the same root issue, a logic board failure near the Meson IC. If you feel confident that the replacement screen you used was of good quality and in working condition, then you will have to have your phone looked at by a micro-solderer.

Thanks for the answer - I was afraid that this could be the issue - but in Denmark where I live I have no information about such repair shops that do micro soldering. And I would assume that the cost would be too high relative to the value of the iPhone 6 plus?

Can you recommend a temporary fix like this one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKb2itJl...

That won't work long-term and will probably cause even more stress on the logic board, exacerbating the issue.

There are many micro-soldering repair shops that offer mail-in service, mine included (check my profile!). As well, there are several reputable micro-solderers that frequent this forum so you have plenty of options. And of course, Google is your friend :>)

As for wether a repair is worth it or not, only you can decide that. The iPhone 6 Plus still has an interesting market value so IMO it's worth it.
