Are the USB-C ports properly shielded?
My MBP suffers from non-existent WiFi if I plug in my Anker HDMI adapter. After doing some research, USB 3 and up apparently cause too much noise in the 2.4 GHz band. Intel has a white paper on it
I've tried various tin-foil shielding tricks and I'm starting to think the EMC issues are in the MBP. Page 16 of the Intel doc says:
It is critical that the receptacle connector shield be connected to a metal chassis or notebook enclosure through grounding tabs or screws. The receptacle connector should have a back-shield to ensure that the receptacle connector is fully enclosed.
If someone with a torn-down MBP could have a look at the ports and comment on the shielding there, that'd be awesome.
Is this a good question?
