The sideways movement does not work. How do I fix it?

The sideways movement on the 3rd gen ipod touch has stopped working making it impossible to flick through music or play games. Is this something that can be fixed?

Thanks Marc for your response, the ipod touch has not been dropped or been close to water. The Ipod works fine and the touch screen is responsive but it will not rotate sideways. All functions working fine except sideways (eg doodle jump only goes up and down and not sideways) I hope this makes more sence. Apple says it is not repairable and I have to purchase a new one, what are your thoughts.

Maria,

If you are talking about the digitizer (touch screen) response was it dropped? If so it could have come unplugged. Follow the link to disassemble, plug back in or replace the digitizer.

If it wasn't dropped was there any other type of trauma? Did it get wet. These are the types of things we need to know to better help you.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes!

It sounded to me like she was talking about the gyroscope, not the digitizer.

Maria,

Since it hasn't had any trauma you know of I would start with trying to re-set it in iTunes. Did you try that? Be sure to back up any of your purchases first. I agree with Sterling it is possible this could be the gyro also. There is always a repair possible but sometimes the cost to repair outweighs the price of a new one. Some people would rather repair and keep their devices out of the landfills, others are more sentimental.
