How to put metal backing plate on new LCD?

When installing the new LCD in my iphone, does the metal backing plate have to be reinstalled as well? If so how do I seperate the metal backing plate from the old LCD and install it on the new LCD?

no you don't need the metal backing of the lcd.You'll notice there are no screw heads or tabs etc?It is all one piece.

You do need the metal rectangle which is part of the midframe... see the repair guides to the right... link is under the photo of the phone. Choose the guide to repair LCD, and carefully study all of the steps.
