micheleryemill what make and model is your vacuum? Sounds like you have a short circuit so you will have to take it apart and check for loose wiring etc. Start with the electrical cord and see if that is whee the error originates. You need a multimeter to test for that. Unless we have to proper make and model there is not a whole lot else that we can suggest.
