Home button will not fit to new screen

Hello,

I have recently ordered a new display for my Apple iPhone SE. I have just started the process of installing it.

The home button from my phone does not fit in the new display. The hole is very slightly too small.

The button fits fine in my old screen with enough clearance for it to move. But, in the new screen the hole is not large enough for it to fully fit.

What is wrong? It seems to me that the screen is not correct and has a fault.

Many thanks, George

Perhaps try cleaning the home button itself? It's very common for dust and gunk to build up around the home button.

It is probably the screen assembly at fault. Just curious does the home button area have plastic or glass for the home button to sit on?

I've had plastic screen frame for home button to sit on and it's horrible, glass only is best. Not sure why some suppliers have plastic for home button to sit on.

Thanks. I have done.

The phone is only a few months old, so it is very clean.

Any other suggestions?

I would have thought that ifixit would not ship screens with such an obvious flaw...

I recommend contacting iFixit about it. They have lifetime warranty on their screens and have good customer support.
