Top LCD White after I replaced entire shell.

I am currently replacing my DS Lite shell because of a broken hinge and disfunctional top LCD (It was usually just white; sometimes colored lines appeared). I successfully replaced the shell, but the top LCD still doesn't work properly. Just white, and if I mess with the ribbon cable, sometimes colored lines will appear. Any suggestions?

either something isnt plugged in, or the lcd is bad
