What does "work" mean? Booting and charging or booting not charging? Can iTunes recognize this iPod when connected? If so, will it charge?

by

work means just plays music on the docking station and does not recognize my pc or itunes

Does it charge/get recognized by iTunes before the replacement?

by

no it didn't... I just replaced the battery .... It indicates with the charger indicator in the top right hand corner its charging but it never does hold it ...and I've keep it on for hours +24 ...could it be a connection with the logic board!

@len yes it could mean that you have either a poor or no connection to the battery. This model is known to have a badly designed battery connector that has the tendency to break of the board. You do want to check this and replace your battery with a new one once more. Even new batteries can be duds. If you have a known-good battery and know that the connector is working properly, you may have issues with the actual dock connector. Check for broken/bend or dirty contacts on that. You can clean the dock connector with some high grade isopropyl alcohol and a few puffs or compressed air.
