Here's the IFIXIT guide: Toshiba Satellite P55W Hard Drive Replacement

But before you sip your current drive out (thats if it's working), you'll want to clone your stuff over using a SATA to USB adapter cable like this one: Startech 2.5" SATA to USB adapter

Sadly I have gotten the computer open and the duh there is the harddrive in that guide doesn't exist in mine....maybe it is M.2? Not sure there is nothing labeled that says this is the storage moron. And I would be ok with just getting it out to clone it for now have been considering a replacement anyway....it has been having heating problems....

This series only has a single drive (HDD or SSD). Toshiba had two versions of the logic board the older system has a 2.5" SATA drive and the newer model a mSATA SSD (which is what yours has).

As your system is overheating check the fan and vent holes in the case for dust build up a soft paintbrush and a can of can'ed air should take care of this. If the system looks clean or still is running hot ($@$*!&%& down) then you may need to redo the thermal paste and/or the heat pipe may need replacing.

Ok....am mSATA drive....if I wanted to take it out and plug it into a different computer....how would I do it?
