Thanks, the universal remote works. Does that mean my Samsung remote is defective? Where can I get a replacement remote?

ken_braziller start by trying a universal remote and see if that works. If it does not, then you know it is modest likely the IR board on your TV that has failed. Looks like it is part number BN96-13959B If a universal remote works you will know that it is your remote that needs to be replaced.
