mower will not start.
Starter tries to engage . Only have 6 volts going
to starter.

@doogie123 if you are only showing 6 V on the starter I'd start by checking the battery and the wiring. Use a set of booster cables on your battery and boost your mower from another vehicle. If that works you know it's your battery.
