iPod Classic will not boot after battery replacement

Hello!

I've got an iPod Classic 7g thin 160GB that only holds a charge for an hour or so. I ordered a battery kit from ifixit, followed the directions exactly, and the iPod refuses to boot.

With the new battery installed, the iPod appears dead, no nothing. When I plug it in with the lock switch in the 'unlocked' position, the Apple logo faintly flashes for a nanosecond, goes dark, and repeats endlessly. Once I flip the switch to 'locked,' the screen goes blank.

I know I didn't damage anything because when I reinstall the stock battery and it boots and works fine. Could I have gotten a bad battery?

@spoonland3r sounds to me like you answered your own question "when I reinstall the stock battery and it boots and works fine." thus it sure sounds like a bad battery. I would recommend you replace it once more. Please make sure that you are careful around the battery connector. This model has issues with it coming of the board. I use a L-shaped paperclip to lift the locking mechanism.

Thanks for the reply! I was careful to unclip and reclip the connector very gently with the spudger in the kit. I'll get in touch with ifixit for an RMA then.
