Face Time camera not working

When I attempt to use Face time, the program opens but without the expected image of myself through the camera. The same happens when using photo booth.

When I look in system report under "camera" it reports the make and serial number of the camera installed.

When I look under the "USB" the camera is not mentioned. I also noticed that under the USB heading sometimes it shows a card reader present and sometimes it is not shown.

I have tried to issue command "sudo killall VDCAssistant" in the terminal but that reports "no matching processes found"

Can anyone help please

Regards

Phil Holland

Hi Phil,

I'm facing the same issue.

on System Information I discovered that the serial number is corrupted, but couldnt find any solution for this, even in a tech support. :-(

if you solve this, please, let me know.
