Why does the screen flash when I try to turn the laptop on?

Sometimes when I press the power button the screen of my dell inspiron 1545 gives a short, bright flash like a strobe light. It's done it a couple of times before but always recovered and managed to boot but this time it's stuck doing it. I took the battery and HDD out and put them back in again, this didn't fix the problem. The LED on the charger is green and everything seems normal with that. The screen will flash with either power source; just battery or just charger

Is there any way to get it back up and running?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi,

Is the display 'normal' when you access the BIOS menu area by pressing F2 on boot?

If so can you boot into 'safe mode' and see if the display is normal as well?

Unfortunately there's no boot whatsoever so I can't access the bios, there's only the strobe flash of the screen. To be honest I think it might be time for a replacement laptop

Thanks for the response

if this does not work, it may be a hardware issue; let me know my solution does not work

The battery normally wouldnt cause this. One easy solution is to remove it and test it without the battery just plugged into the wall. If it works then its the battery, if it does the same thing, there is other issues
