If you replace the flat cable that has the button attached to it, you will loose both Touch ID and Home Button functions. Your button will be a useless fixture.

If you replace the screen extension cable that is part of the backlight panel (and doesn't have the home button directly attached to it), you don't loose your Touch ID function. And in case that cable was damaged before, preventing Touch ID from working, then you gain that function back.

You have to take the phone to an Apple Store and buy a replacement screen there. It will come with a new home button that Apple (and so far only apple) can program to work with your iPhone.

They may decline to replace your screen even for a fee if someone worked on it before.

Your other option is to find someone willing to try and resolder the broken traces.

That's pretty magic, only apple could have done that to make it work on another home button.

Nah, touch sensor wont work unless you somehow get apple to reprogram it.

Home button will work but not touch ID. You are mixing something up here.
