Give us a little more detail? What phone is it. What happened to it? Did it just all of a sudden stop? Any damage caused by dropping it, water etc? How do you know there is electricity inside? Do you hear static?

owais, the first step I would undertake is to really clean out the headphone jack. Apparently it is relatively common for debris (lint etc.) to accumulate in the jack which will stop it from working properly http://ryanspoon.com/blog/2009/02/03/iph.... I do not recommend to stick anything in there, but use compressed air or anything like it to clean the jack. Make sure you clean it well :) Should that not work, I do suppose that you have a hardware problem and try to replace the jack like this iPhone 1st Generation Headphone Jack Replacement and the part is here http://www.ifixit.com/iPhone-Parts/iPhon... Good luck and let us know how it is going...:)
