Liquid Damage - IC replacing

Hi, I damaged my mac book pro (mid 2012) with wine. I have not noticed that wine was damaging it, so the mac turn off itself and never turn on again.

I did some photo that shows the LDVS connector and one IC (INA213) damaged from the liquid

Battery and others parts seems ok.

I am able to do SMD soldering, but , I don't know if the problem is limited to this components, but visually it is.

Based on your experience, does the INA213 replacement solve the (supply) problem?

Based on your experience, does the LDVS connector replacement solve the (lcd) problem?

Do you suggest to pay a professional repair service?

Thank You, Fabio from Italy

Every case is different, there is not a "one fix for all" solution with MacBook repairs. Get a schematic and board view file for 820-3115, and measure all the main power rails (PPBUS_G3H, PP3V42_G3H, all S5 rails). Find out what is missing and work from there.

The chip you pointed out is mainly for sensing, it usually gets damaged by liquid, but I don't think it can prevent it booting (and most of the time it doesn't cause a problem). Whenever I have seen this chip causing an issue a few times, the MacBook boots, but the mouse lags and it runs very slowly.

If you have no luck, send it somewhere. Just don't make it a more difficult job by pulling pads, etc.

Wine is VERY acidic and is often more corrosive than things like water or coffee. Based on the pictures you uploaded you have a very challenging repair ahead of you, if it can be repaired at all. Looks like your missing pads on several key places. If that board was in front of me I would consider it a lost cause and begin sourcing a new MLB, you could spend many hours trying to bring it back and not get a good result.

Search for a 820-3115-B and go with a replacement, you will save time and more importantly your sanity.

Good Luck
