Hi everyone,
I got an strange question. Does anyone know what could cause the power windows to work only when the front doors are opened on a W140? (Doesn't matter which door, one has to be opened). Same goes for the sunroof.
I've changed/check the fuses, relays etc. A bit lost right now.
Is this a good question?

Rabbit , This could be a little work to identify the fault, all fuses/relays looked good, I would suspect pinched/broken wires in the door hinged area. may have to peel back the cover on the harness to check(see last link). You are not alone with this problem, checked a few forums and posted a few below that talk about this issue. Found this statement at the link below. a diode in the fuse box. You can also perhaps have the car scanned for error codes as this may lead to the fault. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.

Hey!
Thanks for the answer! Sadly there's no diode in the W140 anymore, it was mainly a W126 thing. Or at least I have not found it anywhere in the relay box where it should be. I've also had my car checked for any error codes and there are none but my EC that's a bit faulty.
As for the wires running, checked all of those as well, everythings in quite good condition.
As I mostly repair my car myself (with a help of a friend usually) I'd like to get this sorted and thought maybe someone has had anything like this. I would love to take my car to an cert. electrician but I've heard that it might take €100 to even up to a grand or more to fix, depending where the fault is and how long it takes to find it.
But I do really appriciate your response!
