Motorised train not working

Hi All,

Sorry if this is not an item usually discussed but here goes, I discovered a 1980s motorised train for use with the ELC wooden train track, found in a flea market.

I am hoping to get it working but popped some new batteries inside and nothing, not even the front lights light up.

Having had a good look inside all logic boards seem attached and no wires are out of place, Here are some pictures of it all in bits, hope someone can help please, thanks in advance.

Hi @pd2h ,

In the 3rd picture there seems to be a break or missing piece in the connection to the switch in the middle of the board. It is a bit hard to see as I'm not sure if the track goes further under the capacitor and perhaps there is something connected to it there. It is very strange to see what looks like a connection missing like that or that a wide track would be narrowed deliberately in such a way. Here is the image with the area highlighted to show what I'm talking about.

Other than that you may have to use a DMM's (Digital MultiMeter) Ohmmeter function to start tracing the circuit from the battery connections to the switch (I assume that is what starts it) and pcb board and then further into the circuit.
