Was riding on the Highway when all of a sudden my bike started missing and jerking. Check engine light flashed and it died. Started slowly and ran for about 2 minutes and started missing and died again. What might be the cause?

Connie Toole, Could be fuel issue, bad fuel,filter plugged,pump bad if equipped, gas cap vent hole plugged, etc. or could be ignition/charging system related, fouled plugs/bad wire/ground, faulty coil, weak battery, etc.. Since the engine light did come on there should be an error code that may lead to the issue. Have the computer scanned for codes. Not sure if they can do bikes, but may be worth a shot as some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.
