@mongo19696 , Don, Try to find the phone app clear cache then erase data and press OK, then try to make a call. If this does not do it, possibility other App/software could be corrupt and a Hard reset may solve the issue. Hard Reset will erase all of your data. 1st link is more trouble shooting info. for you to check out and th 2nd link pick your device to see how to perform Hard reset. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

I didn't want to go thru the hassle of reinstalling all apps after hard reset method. Instead I simply installed

True Phone from the PlayStore. and now the phone part of my phone is customizable and works even better than the phone app that came stock on the phone.

The sam thing happened to me. I tried to clear cache and also the data of the 'Phone' app, that i used for calls. But that didn't work, so i just 'uninstall updates' of 'System Web Viewer' and then update it from play store. It solved my problem.

I had a similar issue on my Realme 9 pro plus but I don't think the problem was very specific to my phone model.

Phone dialer by Google and Contacts by Google both were crashing and after a while I noticed all the apps dependent on contacts were crashing too like Whatsapp, Telegram, even Truecaller.

I tried clearing Phone App cache and data, Contacts app cache and data but the problem persisted. I updated my phone's operating system to the latest version available still no good.

Here's the solution I found after picking through my app settings.

  1. Go to App Management
  2. Click on the 3 dot and enable "Show System Apps"
  3. Then find an app called "Contacts Storage" -> This is the root of the issue. Data got corrupted causing crashes.
  4. Clear cache and data of this app.
  5. Now try opening the dialer or the contacts app and they should work fine.

I hope this helps.
