That is something I have seen happen to me before. The services often block the connection when they detect a proxy being used. Make sure all proxies are turned off.

I would suggest attempting to change the DNS at your router level, and try to use a wired connection directly to the modem to see if that unblocks it.

Your VPN likely doesn't support split tunneling, in which case you are kind of out of luck as far as I know.

If you are connecting via Windows VPN client, give this a try:

1. Open VPN connection properties.

2. Select "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) under the "Networking" tab and click the "Advanced..." button.

4. Under the "IP Settigns" tab in the "Advanced TCP/IP Settings" window, UNCHECK "Use default gateway on remote network".

5. OK/SAVE/SAVE/OK/OK/OK/SAVE/SAVE/OK

6. Disconnect/Reconnect your VPN connection.

Once this is done, you may or may not be able to resolve host names on your corporate network. For that, you can either start memorizing IPs, or add entries into your HOSTS file (Google for Windows HOSTS).

Hope that works for you.
