Need help with gas golf cart

I recently bought a golf cart from my farther and law. when he pulled it out of his shed at the golf course it started up backed out and ran good. i started to drive it and it died and then i had to push start did that again and finally the third time i couldnt get it to start. i had to push it with my work beater and it starte up and ran good but wont start on its own where do i start. tried looking up the year but cant find it its a ezgo textron serial no 302633 man code j1983

Rodney Baldwin, I believe, Oct=j, year 1983, Start by charging the battery 12.4+ OK and checking/cleaning and retighten all connections. If you charge battery and battery does not hold a charge, the battery is either defective(can be diagnosed usually free of charge at parts store) or you may have a parasitic draw draining battery. when cart is running voltage at battery terminals should read 14.2 volts or better. If battery is good and charged and cart still not cranking, the starter/solenoid/fuse/park switch/ignition/wires/etc. could be faulty and need to be tested and checked.
