zebranay , You can try charging it from computer if able for 4 hours to see if that may revive it, battery could be faulty. You can also try a reset, holding down the volume up and down and the power button until the phone light flashes red, then just hold the power button down for about 20 seconds or until power up.

Still no go may have to factory reset. Hold the volume up and the power buttons at the same time for a few seconds until the screen turns on. Scroll down to factory data reset and select with power button. Scroll down to yes and select with power button. Reset could take a little while. when screen appears select the reboot now with power button. Phone is now rest and hopefully operating normally.

The link below will show how to get inside your phone to check the battery connections and reseat them and try phone or change the battery if determined faulty. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.

Hey guys!

The exact same thing happened to me when I tried to root my z981 — and what worked for me was to hold VOLUME UP & DOWN as well as the POWER button for quite a while (30 secs or so) and then let go of the VOLUME buttons while still holding the POWER. Whew! It worked. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me. My phone was fine.. started running a little slow and then it just turned off. My battery was at 34%. I tried turning it on but nothing happened, the lights at the bottom of the screen didn't light up either. I plugged it in to charge just in case.. still nothing. I googled how to reset the phone. The lights at the bottom of the screen turned on but nothing else. I did everything anyone told me might work. Finally gave up and went into my phone store, i figured i pay for the insurance every month, i might as well get use outta it.

The lady told me it was a manufacturer problem, i needed to call and file a claim, pay the $30 and then pay to have it sent in the mail to their warehouse to be fixed.

That annoyed me like no other… you pay over 200 for the phone everything included and pay insurance. Then there's a manufacturer problem.. nothing you did… and now YOU have to pay more. Bull.

The lady said Honestly, you should of lied and said it was stolen. They'd send a new one out. Sorry.

Uh… what in the !&&*…?!

Anyways, i didn't send it in. I threw it in the “junk drawer”

3 months later i came across it and figured I'd put it on the charger just to see what would happen..BOOM it turned back on like nothing happened. So weird.

So I've been using it again for 2 months and here we go again… battery at 26% and it shuts off. It's been sitting on the charger for 2 days with no change.

These stupid phones. Ugh.

So, i mean.. if you have time to spare.. do the reset.. yell.. scream.. throw in a drawer and forget about it.. charge a few months later and Taaah-daaaah you get your phone back for 2 months.

Ridiculous. Lmao

Press the power button and the down volume button at the same time. Keep pressing them until it comes on.

Try pressing and holding the volume and power buttons at the same time until it turns on, this gives you root access, use volume down to highlight “root integrity check” (or similar). Press the power button, You should see your phone scanning its root directory for errors, once done reboot the phone… it will fix any errors causing your phone to be a pain in the ass. Make sure you are connected to a charger or via usb on pc/laptop etc.

After hours and hours of complete frustration, despair and sheer hopelessness to the point of being convinced my ZTE Max was bricked for good—to my complete surprise, after pressing the power button for a silly amount of time (it seemed to be almost a minute—at least 45 secs) it came back to life. Like a freakin’ Creature From The Deep!. Yeay.

No guarantee but it worked for me!

Humbly Yours, Max

PS: I don’t recall exactly to be fair, but the procedure also required holding the Power Buttons as well—for 20-30 seconds.

I know this might sound dumb but to be honest this works for so many people. Lithium cell phone batteries and most lithium batteries have what I like to call a safety switch built in so it will not allow its cells to go so low that cant come back to life at all. Think of it similar to a car battery. When the car battery cant give enough energy to start the vehicle also known as crank voltage it has the help of the alternator to rejuice it up a bit. You can literally jump start or quick charge your battery. Takes 10 min and once the battery gets to a certain level it will continue to charge normally. It just got so low n activated the safety mechanism which is to play dead like a possum. Good luck. There are videos on this. I suggest having or getting a cheap multimeter so you can check the power. Your welcome.
