How to remove a grimy screw from PSone controller?

Trying to disassemble a PSone controller but stuck on one last screw near the top of the pad, behind the L1 and L2 buttons. My question is simply, how can I go about removing the final screw without stripping it? I've already had a difficult time removing the other screws due to excessive ammounts of grime on and in the controller.

Note:

1) The controller is old

2) It is caked with hand grime

3) It's gross

4) I want it apart so I can clean the darned thing

5) Did I mention that it's gross?

One thing you could try is to get a q-tip and get some alcohol on it and try and soak that screw for a few minutes then use the other end of the q-tip to try and soak up the grime then try to take the screw out. That would be my suggestion.

Use a tiny bit of WD40 or similar and let it soak in, and then with a reasonable amount of pressure try turning the screw, only aim to turn it a little at a time, if it keeps "camming out" you might be using an unsuitable driver. Using one of the other screws you already have try and find a driver that as closely fits it as possible.

If in the end you do strip the head, you can always drill it out, not ideal, but it does get the job done.

Will keep this in mind for future reference. Considered using WD-40 but only as a last resort; it can be messy. Thank you as well!

Yeah, WD40 can be messy but it's very effective against stuck screws.

Let me know how you get on.
