Why wont my phone read my sim card anymore?

my phone is brand new it was reading my sim card but it got locked up and i had to by pass it to use it again and i reseted it many times and reebooted it then one day i activated my sim card and before i even put my airtime on my si it stop reading my sim days before how can i fix that problem
