Can I make phone calls with the communicator?

I know that I can receive phone calls with The Star Trek Bluetooth Communicator by flipping open the antenna grille when I receive a call and my phone is paired with the communicator. However, I was wondering if I could also make outgoing calls with the device.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

It depends. The Bluetooth Communicator does not have a numeric keypad or graphical display, so calls may only be initiated via the Communicator if it is paired with and connected to a mobile phone that supports voice dialing from a hands-free Bluetooth headset, or by using the "last number redial" function.

To make a call with hands-free voice dialing, single click the right button to initiate the call. Once voice dialing is initiated the Communicator will play speech prompts and confirmation tones from your mobile through the Communicator’s speaker and your mobile phone will use the Communicator’s microphone. Please be aware the some phones require an internet connection for voice dialing.

If you wish to use the "last number redial" function of the communicator, press and hold the right button for last number redial. This feature can be useful if your mobile phone doesn’t support remote voice dialing, and wish to call a person you have recently spoken to.
