Powers on and the shuts off

So my grandma's iPad 2 powers on and shows the Apple logo. As soon as it gets to the lock screen it flickers and shuts off the screen. But the screen still stays light but just doesn't show image. I have a cell phone repair business but I am not 100% sure what this problem is.

You don't really say if this is following a repair (cracked screen?) or if the iPad just started doing this on its own (perhaps following a hard drop). Has it come in contact with water? A little context would help.

Without knowing more, I would certainly suspect a logic board issue. There is probably a failed subsystem which terminates the boot process. I would open it up, check connectors, look for damage or missing parts. If you don't know how to troubleshoot a logic board, look for a shop that does micro-soldering repairs.
